Second Coming

Roundhouse Theatre - La Boite

Updated: Jun 16, 2026

La Boite Theatre and Playlab Theatre present the world premiere of Second Coming, a comedy of galactic proportions and love letter to earth, wrapped in the language of corporate salvation. On at the Roundhouse Theatre Kelvin Grove from 6 to 22 August.

Written by award-winning playwright Kathryn Marquet and directed by Playlab Theatre Artistic Director Ian Lawson, Second Coming reimagines Noah's Ark as a space mission to create a Second Eden on Mars, prompting questions about the future we are actually building for ourselves here on earth.

Geneticist Evie and the crew of the ARK II spaceship are humanity’s last hope, charged with rescuing every species they can, two by two, for a new beginning on Mars. Lesser prairie chickens and Javan warty pigs and creatures of all kinds bound for purpose-built biomes in a new 'Second Eden'.

Behind the mission is GENESIS, a corporate superpower who have commissioned the project, selling salvation through a slick marketing campaign. As personal crises collide with cosmic responsibility, Evie uncovers a shocking truth about the mission that forces the crew to question everything they thought they knew. Where do they go from here?
