Queensland Fringe Festival

Queensland Fringe Festival is hitting the road this August, bringing live music, comedy, cabaret and theatre to regional Queensland with an unforgettable arts adventure celebrating the people, places and communities of the state's west.

Running from August 1–7, the inaugural statewide festival expands on the success of Brisbane's beloved Wynnum Fringe, with its first touring route travelling through Charleville, Augathella, Roma and Toowoomba. Along the way, audiences can enjoy world-class performances in historic theatres, country pubs, town halls and unique community spaces.

The adventure begins in Charleville on Saturday, August 1, where visitors can spend the day at the Charleville Gymkhana before settling in for Wes Carr: The Hits – Unplugged at Hotel Corones. The following day in Augathella, Wes Carr takes to the stage once again for a special community BBQ and afternoon performance at the Augathella Bowls Club, before heading to Roma on Tuesday, August 4, for an intimate live show at Western Queensland Spirit.

The road trip culminates in Toowoomba, where Queensland Fringe transforms the city's CBD into a vibrant festival precinct from August 6–7. Buildings and landmarks will glow in the festival's signature purple as the city comes alive with an exciting program of live entertainment taking place at the Empire Theatre. Headline acts including Jim Jefferies, Vanessa Amorosi and Dami Im promise a spectacular finale, bringing world-class comedy and chart-topping music to the festival's biggest stop.

The stellar line-up continues with Luke Kennedy and Mark Sholtez in Mockingbird, Sue Ray's single launch performance, Stephen Roche & Scott Corfield: Behind Don't Tell, theatre productions including Thom Pain (Based on Nothing) and Twelve Days of Stillness, the From Page to Stage theatre showcase, and the Shine Shoot Out film festival.

Festival-goers are encouraged to travel alongside the Fringe by caravan or 4WD, with the journey also captured in a behind-the-scenes social series. Queensland based visual artist Phoebe Paradise has created the original artwork 'Where The WIldflowers Are' to celebrate the occasion, this piece will be projected on the front of The Empire Theatre in Toowoomba from the 1st to the 7th of August. 

The festival is also partnering with the Walton Stores hospitality precinct, where acclaimed restaurant Bergen and the newly opened wine bar Pressd will create exclusive festival-inspired food and drink offerings, encouraging audiences to make a night of it before and after performances. Adding to the atmosphere, the long-vacant Bodega nightclub will be reimagined as the official late-night festival bar, giving artists, audiences and visitors a place to gather, celebrate and keep the festival spirit alive after the curtain comes down.
