Experience two of Johann Sebastian Bach's most captivating vocal works when Bach Akademie Australia presents Weddings & Parties Over Coffee for one special evening at City Tabernacle Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 5.
The concert will feature internationally acclaimed Australian soprano Miriam Allan, who returns home after performing with renowned ensembles including Les Arts Florissants, English Baroque Soloists and Concerto Copenhagen. Audiences may also recognise Miriam from her appearance as a soloist at the funeral of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Adding a special touch, Miriam will perform alongside her own father, acclaimed Australian baritone Christopher Allan, bringing authentic family chemistry to Bach's entertaining father-and-daughter tale. Joining them are tenor Dan Walker, Bach Akademie Australia and Artistic Director Madeleine Easton.
The program also features two arias from Selig ist der Mann (BWV 57), the Ouverture from Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach's Sinfonia in D minor, making for a delightful evening of Baroque music.
