Burning of the Vines
Sirromet Winery
Updated: Jul 11, 2026
Celebrate the beloved annual winter tradition of Burning of the Vines - an evening of fire, flavour and fine wine at Sirromet Winery on Saturday August 29
Held on the Tuscan Terrace, the evening starts with a seasonal menu paired expertly with Sirromet wines, which are introduced with each course by Sirromet's Head Winemaker, Jessica Ferguson, accompanied by live acoustic music.
As the evening progresses, guests will make their way down for the lighting of the vines—an annual signature moment on the Sirromet calendar. Originating from France, the burning of the vines marks the end of harvest and the winter pruning. Tradition dictates collecting grapevine cuttings then burning them to cleanse the vineyards. It is also a time to celebrate the new bud bursts and new vintage.
The evening continues back at the Tuscan Terrace, where dessert will be served in a relaxed, standing-style setting, accompanied by upbeat tunes while the fire crackles nearby.
An evening of fine food, fine wine, and fiery celebration—join Sirromet for a night to remember!
