Hawthorne

Updated: Mar 24, 2026

Seeing a movie here at Hawthorne Cineplex - one of the oldest running cinemas in Brisbane - is a delightful yesteryear experience, with prices to match.

The century old movie theatre started life as The Roxy in 2022 and retains much of its yesteryear charm.

Combine with a trip via the river, arriving at the nearby 1920s Hawthorne ferry terminal with its charming little park overlooking Teneriffe’s woolstores.

Across the road is sibling the Hawthorne Deluxe, a state-of-the-art contemporary theatre with all of the trimmings.
