Brace yourself for the strangest event of the year as the Oddities and Curiosities Expo, the ultimate celebration of all things peculiar and extraordinary, returns for a third year at the Brisbane Convention Centre on November 29 and 30.

The expo is a one-of-a-kind traveling showcase that brings together hundreds of oddity vendors and artists from across the country, creating a playground for the strange and unusual. Here, the weird, wonderful, and downright bizarre unite in a fascinating display of the extraordinary, providing a platform for vendors and artists to connect with a community of like-minded individuals.

You can browse and shop for rare and unique items, including taxidermy, preserved animal specimens, dark artistry, original horror and Halloween-inspired artwork, antiques, metaphysical accoutrements, handcrafted oddities, skulls, bones, and funeral collectables. Also on offer are photo opportunities, tarot readings, sideshow performances, and various concessions to keep you entertained.

Founded in Oklahoma by Michelle and Tony Cozzaglio, the expo has hosted hundreds of events across North America, recognising a growing demand for this unique large-scale gathering. After hosting the event’s first international shows in 2023, Australia became a yearly staple of the tour. With its strong DIY ethos and a commitment to excellence, the expo continues to grow year after year.

You can attend several unique hands-on classes: a day-long taxidermy class, to learn to create a full-sized taxidermy mount of a mythical “ratalope” or North American opossum, a wet specimen workshop, where you will learn the techniques of preserving specimens in liquid medium; and two entomology classes—an intro to butterfly pinning and beetle pinning.

Good to know – All animals in the taxidermy class and other parts of the show are sourced ethically and died of natural causes.

Need to know – This is an all-ages event; however, parents are encouraged to use their discretion regarding young attendees.
