Alcove Cafe & Deli

Wilston

Updated: Oct 05, 2025

Alcove Café & Deli is the stand-out café in Wilston Village - a gorgeous rustic al fresco eatery occupying a sunny corner, with its own herb garden and tiny gourmet providore inside.

Open daily for a delicious all-day breakfast, Alcove also offers to-die-for sweet stuff, home-style lunch and the best coffee in the village.

Here diners can enjoy the kind of fastidiously prepared top notch food (locally sourced where possible) that customers at the owner’s other cafe – Samson and Sophie, enjoy.

On the breakfast menu are longtime fav Italian Eggs (slow-cooked Italian sausage in rich tomato sauce with poached eggs and organic Leavain sourdough) based on an old Sicilian family recipe, some of the best (value and quality) Avocado Smash in town (add salmon and haloumi, bacon or 2 poached eggs) and Kasundi Eggs (poached eggs, smoked leg ham and avo on sour dough with to-die-for eggplant Kasundi relish). In the likely event of becoming hooked on the Redcliffe-made Kasundi Relish, customers can pick up a take home jar on the way out.

Come lunchtime it’s hard to go past the Lambsie – handmade herbed lamb pattie, grilled local haloumi, tomato, baby spinach, caramelized onion with mint yoghurt dressing on sour dough but otherwise there’s Soft Greek Falafel Wraps (chicken or falafel) with tomato, cheese, greens and relish or homemade baking dishes such as peppered steak pie with sweet potato mash, salads or gourmet sandwiches served toasted with salad.

And from the tempting array of sweet baked goodies behind the counter, if there’s one thing that is a must try, it’s the Chinese 5 Spice Gluten Free Chocolate Cake.

Coffee served at Alcove is Veneziano Forza, which comes in the usual varieties including latte, mocha, chai latte and hot chocolate, hot or iced, an impressive range of teas including Cleopatra’s Champagne, old school milkshakes, daily smoothies and juices and organic bottled drinks.

*All food needs to be ordered at the counter inside.

Need to know – As well as the Kusandi Relish, other take home products include Mamma Marilena cookies and nut bread, Leavain loaves, Sicilian tomato sauce (based on a century old recipe), red pepper marmalade and the out-of-this-world strawberry conserve.

Nice to know – Alcove Café & Deli is dog-friendly, with a dog bowl provided out front and posts to secure the dog.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
