Tea And Niceties

Mt Tamborine

Updated: Dec 02, 2023

TEA AND NICETIES CLOSED IN NOVEMBER 2023.

Tea and Niceties is one of Mt Tamborine’s must visit hidden gems – a charming cafe and old world tea room (with a secret beer tap room) set in lush European style gardens.

Enter Tea and Niceties via a wide driveway, beyond which are the enchanted gardens awash with fairy-lit trees, romantic statues, bird baths, flower beds and a love swing hanging from a fig tree.

The cafe occupies an alfresco tree-lined garden courtyard while the tea room is in a gazebo like summer room with chandelier, crisp white linen tablecloths and niceties from a past era.

With its close proximity to the Curtis Falls walk, one of Mt Tamborine’s most popular, Tea and Niceties makes the perfect stop for an all-day breakfast or delicious country-style lunch.

On the light side of the breakfast menu are Thick Cut French Toast, Smashed Avo, Fetta and Homemade Dukkah on Toast, or Bacon and Egg Butty and more substantial are the Two Egg House Omelette, The Get Up and Go (sautéed mushrooms, 2 eggs done any way, spinach, crispy bacon and tomato) or the Hearty Breakfast (the works).

For lunch, there’s Melts or House Sandwiches, the recommended Gourmet House Pie (with feather light golden pastry) and Garden Salad made from locally grown ingredients, Vegetarian Lasagne or Beef, Chicken or Moroccan Vege Burgers. Otherwise, there are salads including Moroccan or Caesar.

For those just after a coffee or tea and something sweet, Tea and Niceties is the place, with a range of delicious home-baked goodies (including a couple of gluten free options) to enjoy – go for a Devonshire tea of light fluffy scones, jam and cream or try one of the muffins (rhubarb is a specialty), brownies, lemon and blueberry cheesecake, banana bread or Chocolate cake with hazelnut buttercream and honeycomb.

Tea and Niceties do both a well-brewed Di Bella coffee and an extensive array of loose leaf teas served in elegant vintage china pots and cups.

But the house specialty, for which people travel from the Gold Coast and Brisbane, are the sumptuous high teas (Traditional - $45pp, Wellbeing (gluten free/dairy free/vegan - $55pp or Celebrations including glass of sparking wine - $65), served with finesse in the quaint 1940s-style tea room.

The Traditional High Tea encompasses a section of fresh sandwiches and warm savouries, dainty cakes, slices, tartlets, mini cheesecakes, bliss balls and fresh baked scones with strawberry jam, cream and lemon curd.

And for something completely different and savoury, there's now the option of enjoying a wicked Tapas Tower and selection of local brews to enjoy in the Beer and Nasties Tap Room.

Need to know – High tea must be booked with a minimum of 24-hours notice. Dietary requirements can be accommodated – notify at the time of booking. Bookings on weekends recommended for cafe and tea room.
