LUMINOUS Lantern Parade, Queensland's most iconic celebration of multiculturalism, returns to South Bank even brighter this year as Multicultural Australia celebrates 25 years of creating welcome and belonging.

On Friday, June 9th, South Bank will be lit up with a trail of magnificent lanterns taking the form of giant wildlife and flora, celestial bodies, and various symbols of kindness. The night culminates with a festive concert where audiences will be treated to incredible performances and live music from around the world.

LUMINOUS Lantern Parade

From a modest candlelight gathering 16 years ago, the annual spectacle has developed into a movement of solidarity and support by the broader public for refugees, migrants, and people seeking asylum. Tens of thousands from across the State come together every year to witness the warmth of the Queensland spirit in this winter event.

LUMINOUS Lantern Parade,

The symbolic parade will begin at South Bank’s Flowstate open-air pavilion and will travel along the stunning Brisbane River by nightfall, finishing at South Bank Piazza where the lanterns will illuminate the World Music concert stage featuring performances from a diverse range of musicians and dancers.
