Victoria Park Masterplan
2032
Updated: Aug 02, 2026
A masterplan for Victoria Park has been revealed by the Queensland State Government, including artist's impressions of the green space surrounding the Olympic Stadium, which is to be built in the centre.
The Olympic and Paralympic Games facilities will include the Brisbane Stadium, the National Aquatic Centre at Centenary Pool, and upgrades to Brisbane Showgrounds, whilst two-thirds of the existing parklands will be transformed into green, public space.
The proposal also includes a sizable expansion of York's Hollow wetland and the creation of an "urban forest" which will be planted in order to "soften" the landscape, whilst the current cricket facilities will be flooded to create a lake.
A public amphiteatre and a series of wide pedestrian bridges will also be built, with the latter linking Victoria Park with Spring Hill, the Brisbane CBD and the National Aquatic Centre.
