The Stores West End is an Aladdin's Cave of all things fresh and locally produced - a providore's dream-come-true and supporter of local farmers and producers.
This is a new business venture for the Schulte family, who have been supplying fresh meat and small goods from their Plainland meat tavern on the Warrego Highway since 1952. After checking out the amazing range of locally sourced meat and small goods that can be found in the butchery, wander through The Stores and see what else is on offer.
For those who appreciate aged beef, The Stores has a temperature controlled dry age cabinet. Buy from the range of meats already hanging or choose your own piece of meat to be hung and aged. A full range of locally sourced deli items is also available.
The fruit and veg section showcases fresh produce, with a walk-in cool room ensuring that fruit and vegetables are kept in premium condition and that customers take home high quality produce.
The Source is a must do stop here too. Wall to wall bulk bins of cereals, grains, nuts, sweets and more should see the pantry well stocked. Honeys, maple syrup, macadamia butter, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and laundry detergent are also sold in bulk. Take your own containers along to be filled, purchase a glass container or use a take-home paper bag.
Perhaps the showstopper here though is the purpose built fromagerie -a cheese-lover's dream where shelf upon shelf displays both local and imported artisan cheeses. And just a few steps away are crusty breads, crackers and a range of Queensland wines - all sorted.
Here at The Stores West End, visitors will find beautiful fresh and locally produced fare: Scenic Rim 4Real milk, Kingaroy cheeses, Coolana Olives from Lowood, and Millmerran pork are just a few of the products stocked. In the near future, an artisan bakery will also be joining the already impressive line up.
With the shopping all done, why not take a break and enjoy a drink or a meal at London Fields, the onsite gastropub (reminiscent of British pubs) where hearty pub grub is the name of the game.
