As well as dining in the spacious high-ceilinged rooms, the prized spot is the back verandah with its sweeping Brisbane vistas, featuring a couple of hanging egg chairs as well as a line-up of Parisian café chairs along a communal bench. Adjacent to the verandah there’s also a dedicated playroom with toys for children, making Chapter IV one of Brisbane’s most child-friendly cafes.

Breakfast dishes start with light items – think freshly baked muffins, croissants and organic sourdough with preserves – followed by the traditional such as Egg Florentine or Benedict – ranging up to the Chapter IV breakfast (free-range eggs any way, bacon, lamb and rosemary sausage, roast field mushroom, hash brown, sauteed broccolini, housemade tomato chutney and sourdough), or the Big Veggie Breakfast (free-range eggs any way, with bubble and squeak, sweet potato, chickpea, zucchini fritters, avocado & thyme roasted field mushrooms).
