The Pantry

Brisbane

A gorgeous cafe has made its home in Old Government House at QUT Gardens Point - The Pantry - and is proving popular with both students and suits.

Located in the western wing of the heritage-listed building, the cafe itself is small with only a few tables to sit at. However, outside in the courtyard there are plenty of recycled timber tables and chairs where patrons can sip The Pantry’s excellent coffee custom blended by Piazza D’Oro.

Those on the run can grab a quick to bite to eat with an assortment of friands, danishes and muffins on hand, or linger longer over a bowl of Bircher muesli with yoghurt and honey, eggs on toast with avocado mash, lemon scented labna and hazelnut dukkha or soft boiled hen’s egg with smoked salmon, watercress, dill crème fraiche and rye toast.

Lunch options range from pork and fennel sausage rolls, zucchini fritters and lasagne to fresh sandwiches, wraps, rolls and some rather inspired salads – eggplant and lentil with garlic yoghurt, spice roasted cauliflower and sultana or roasted vegetable, baby spinach and goats curd.

Enjoy afternoon tea with traditional treats befitting this iconic locale like lamingtons, lemon meringue pie, passionfruit tarts and home baked scones with berry compote and double cream.

Tea totalers won’t be disappointed with Tielka Tea’s range of fairtrade, organic loose leaf tea: Jade Mist green tea, Midnight Blossom oolong, Peppermint Leaf herbal infusion, South Cloud chai and Earl Royale black tea.

And for a special treat, book a table at The Pantry’s High Tea; served on the first Sunday of each month (and Mother’s Day) including a selection of finger sandwiches, sweet treats, petit fours and more.
