Circus Oz fans should make sure they get along to their new high-octane show, Model Citizens, at the Playhouse, QPAC, 12 – 15 April.
Set in a beautiful yet chaotic model kit world, the show is the first creation directed by our national circus company’s new Artistic Director, Rob Tannion. Model Citizens seamlessly blends all of the risks, beauty and rawness we’ve come to expect from Circus Oz, with a pumping live soundtrack, amazing lighting and more than a dash of absurdity.
Oversized everyday objects take on a new life as inventive circus equipment, as the show explores what it means to be a ‘model citizen’ in our ‘lucky’ country today. Tannion says that the show “aims to challenge our preconceptions of the creative process and expectations of what our audiences will see and experience on stage.”
With Circus Oz having been on the scene for about 40 years now, Model Citizens continues its evolution of animal-free, physically challenging and humorous entertainment. Model Citizens is a must-see for their many rabid fans and a great introduction for anyone who hasn’t seen these skilful and talented people before.
