Mile9 Takeover

South City Wine Bar & Bistro

Updated: Aug 14, 2026

Brisbane pizza lovers, get ready - Melbourne cult favourite Mile9 is heading north for a month-long takeover of South City Wine in Woolloongabba from Wednesday, August 19.

Following the huge response to its one-day Brisbane pop-up at Sasso Italiano earlier this year, Mile9 is back with a bigger residency, bringing its signature Detroit-style pizzas to Brisbane alongside its cult-favourite snacks, drinks and late-night energy.

Known for its thick, pillowy dough, bold toppings and those irresistible crispy, caramelised cheese edges, Mile9’s pizzas are a distinctly different take on the classic slice.

And there’s more than pizza on the menu. South City Wine’s famous $2 oysters are sticking around, while the burger is getting a Detroit-style buttermilk makeover.

Expect crispy buttermilk chicken, American beer buckets, Mile9 vino pours and a cocktail lineup canned in-house, from Tanqueray Supersize Negronis and Long Island Iced Teas to Espolòn Palomas and lightly sparkling Cherry Old Fashioneds. Out on the deck, the permanent Dal Zotto Bocce Club brings a taste of early-spring fun, with Dal Zotto magnums and Limoncello Spritzes made for laid-back afternoons and easygoing evenings.

Then there’s the Mile9 Hot Sauce Wall, where diners can choose their level of heat and add it to their pizza, chicken, burger or even their drink - completely free.

For something a little different, part of South City Wine’s wine cabinet will transform into a Mile9 vinyl residency, with guests invited to choose a record from the wall and spin it themselves. So you can grab a pizza, crack a beer and soundtrack your own night.

Mile9 will kick off its Brisbane residency on Wednesday, August 19, with a launch party featuring free Detroit-style pizza slices and Mile9 snacks all night. Just grab a drink and settle in for plenty of pizza, cold drinks, vinyl and late-night vibes.
