Updated: Jun 26, 2026
The Mary Poppins Festival is back in Maryborough, the birthplace of the author of the Mary Poppins books, Pamela Lyndon Travers, on Sunday July 5.
The author of some of the most famous and best-loved books of all time, P.L. Travers was born Helen Lyndon Goff, in an upstairs bedroom of the former Australian Joint Stock Bank building in Maryborough, which is now an interactive museum.
This fabulous, free festival features a host of fun activities for the entire family including festival favourites like chimney sweeping, nanny races and the grand parade, plus street food vendors, market stalls, rides, pavement art and live entertainment!
Celebrate the art of storytelling and be transported into a world full of play and imagination at the Mary Poppins Festival, as Maryborough’s heritage streetscapes and riverside parks are transformed through a storytelling program that transcends genres and presents a mix of art, culture, music and literature.
