Families are invited to discover a world of creativity, play and imagination at Museum of Brisbane these Winter School Holidays, with a vibrant program of exhibitions and hands-on experiences designed for kids and teens from 27 June to 12 July. 

From sculpture building to zine-making workshops and playful city-inspired activities, there’s something for every young maker and curious mind. Whether you drop in for a creative session or book a guided workshop, Museum of Brisbane’s holiday program is packed with imaginative experiences in the heart of the city. Best of all, activities are free or budget friendly.

Program highlights:

Kids - City Sculptures
MoB Kids: City Sculptures

Build, balance and create. Kids can design and construct their own 3D geometric sculptures of Brisbane’s cityscape and unique architecture. Using colourful shapes and textured elements inspired by Artist in Residence, Renee Kire, little makers can experiment with balance, structure and form while bringing their creative ideas to life. A fun and creative activity perfect for imaginative builders. No bookings required – just drop in and create!

MoB Kids – Remix your Brissy
MoB Kids: Remix your Brissy

Build your own Brisbane! Plan your cityscape using paper pieces by Artist in Residence Martin Edge. Kids can cut, remix and twist together iconic drawings to invent a brand-new city bursting with colour and imagination! No bookings required – just drop in and create! Plus, kids can enter a special competition for the chance to have their creation transformed into a one-of-a-kind artwork by Martin Edge to keep. See the details on Museum of Brisbane’s website.

MoB Teens - Zines with Izzy
MoB Teens: Zines with Izzy

Cut, paste and publish. Teens can step into a world of creativity and bring their own DIY zine to life! Mash up images, words, and ideas to build a unique mini publication, guided by artist Izzy Heaton. Warm up with a mini tour of Precious with Izzy to soak up all the punk-inspired posters and badges, then let your hands go loose in the studio! Raid the camera roll, bring bits and pieces, or dive in and create something totally unexpected. A fun, hands-on workshop for teens who love to create.

Dates: Wednesday 1 & 8 July 2026
Time: 2.00pm – 4:00pm
Cost: $30 plus booking fee. Bookings required.
Ages: Suitable for ages 10-15 (supervising adult required for ages 10–12) 

MoB Warrajamba
Warrajamba

Join Artist in Residence, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, on her quest to find Warrajamba, the mermaid from an ancestral story passed down through generations. Within the Creative Space, visitors can take part in free making activities, including crafting mermaid or dugong dolly peg dolls using stamps featuring Delvene’s designs, for a playful way to engage with the story and the artist’s visual practice.

Clock-Tower-Kids activities for Winter School Holidays at Museum of Brisbane
Clock Tower Tours

Discover the hidden history of heritage-listed City Hall on a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower! Ride one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts and take in sweeping 360-degree views from the top of the city. Go behind the scenes of Australia’s largest analogue clock faces, then step out onto the observation platform for a unique view across Brisbane. Book online to secure your place.
