Moonlight Bandit Cafe

Rochedale South

Updated: Aug 27, 2023

MOONLIGHT BANDIT CAFE HAS CLOSED.

Moonlight Bandit Cafe is a friendly, family-owned and operated cafe in Rochedale South, serving boutique coffee along with delicious breakfast and lunch fare.

Perched at the end of a suburban shopping strip, Rochedale residents Laura and Michael have transformed a former gym and one-time Blockbuster outlet into a charming cafe and community hub where locals can enjoy a well-brewed cup of coffee and cake, or meal in a relaxed setting with modern decor including original artwork on the walls, a comfy couch, and tables and chairs spilling outside.

The menu boasts simple fare done well including breakfast faves such as smashed avo on sourdough with perfectly poached eggs and feta, classic eggs benedict (poached eggs and ham off the bone on English muffins with hollandaise), American-style pancakes served with butter and maple syrup, and Middle Eastern shakshuka -  poached eggs in a hearty, spiced sauce of tomato, capsicum, garlic and onion.

Lunch options range from the Moonlight Burger (hand-made beef patty with melted cheddar cheese) and spicy chipotle chicken burger, to a juicy rump steak sandwich with sauteed onions and garlic aioli; while vegetarians and coeliacs can tuck into a gluten-free lunch bowl of wild rice, avocado, cherry tomatoes, spinach, feta and fried egg.

Moonlight Bandit is child-friendly with a kids menu consisting of fluffy pancakes, toad in the hole, and nachos - corn chips topped with melted cheese, sour cream, salsa and guacamole.

Coffee on pour is by boutique coffee roasters Adore and goes down a treat with the selection of muffins, cakes and slices on hand.

Need to know - Breakfast and lunch are available Thursday-Sunday only.
