Into The Woods

Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel are heading into the woods! Stephen Sondheim’s much-loved Into the Woods is coming to Brisbane this November for a magical new production at QPAC, before heading to Toowoomba for a short run at the Empire Theatre.

Bringing together Opera Queensland, Queensland Theatre Company and Queensland Symphony Orchestra, this spellbinding musical will take over QPAC’s Glasshouse Theatre from 11 to 21 November, and Empire Theatre in Toowoomba from 3 to 4 December, inviting audiences into a world where happily-ever-afters aren’t quite as simple as they seem.

A host of fairytale favourites and other familiar characters all find themselves crossing paths deep in the woods, as their seemingly separate stories become unexpectedly intertwined. But once their wishes start coming true, things take a decidedly darker turn.

The Brisbane production features an impressive cast, including Amy Lehpamer as the Baker’s Wife, Kanen Breen as the Mysterious Man and Ali McGregor as the Witch, alongside a stellar ensemble of performers.

Expect Sondheim’s unforgettable score, larger-than-life fairytale characters and plenty of twists and turns as these classic stories collide in a production that explores ambition, responsibility, family and the power of community.

So whether you’re a lifelong Sondheim fan or simply love a good fairytale with a darker edge, Into the Woods is set to be one of Brisbane’s must-see theatre productions this November.
