Redlands Lagoon

Updated: Aug 30, 2026

The Lagoon area is a stunning new aquatic park that is the jewel in the crown of the Redland City Council's game-changing Birkdale Community Precinct, with construction expected to start around mid-2027.

The project, which has just been given the green light by Redland City Council, includes a 2000m lagoon area as well as nearby walking trails and zip line.

The lagoon area will be conected to the Redlands Whitewater Centre, which is slated to host the Canoe Slalom events for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, after which it will offer all-ages year round activities like tubing on calm waters, learning water safety, beginner paddling, and even tackling rapids for canoeing, kayaking, and rafting.

The lagoon precinct will feature adult and children’s swimming lagoons, waterplay area, toddler splash zone, accessible beach and ramp entries, amenities, plant and equipment and landscaped public realm as well as a 2-storey pavilion where patrons can buy food and beverages as well as communal use. Other possibilities include dive-in movie nights and water safety programs.
