Updated: Sep 08, 2026

Looking for a fun night out that’s a little more creative? Museum of Brisbane’s much-loved Crafty Party series is back, bringing two hands-on, after-dark workshops to City Hall this spring!

Designed for crafty beginners and seasoned creatives alike, each Crafty Party invites you to get hands-on with some of Brisbane’s most exciting artists while creating a one-of-a-kind piece to take home. Think drinks, nibbles, good company and plenty of creative inspiration - with absolutely no artistic experience required.

On Thursday 17 September, ceramicist Bonnie Hislop will kick off the series with a sold-out playful workshop celebrating the launch of her new book, Let’s Dabble!

Known for her colourful sculptures and whimsical characters, Hislop will guide guests in personalising one of her handmade Friend for Your Feelings sculptures using acrylic paint. Inspired by the tradition of worry dolls, your finished creation will become a colourful little companion designed to hold your worries, thoughts and emotions.

Then, on Thursday 12 November, Brisbane artists Sunday Jemmott and Renee Kire will take over the Crafty Party studio for an evening of bold colour, playful shapes and abstraction.

Guests will create their own vibrant floral sculpture, drawing inspiration from the artists’ distinctive practices. Along the way, Sunday and Renee will share insights into their creative processes, ideas and materials, giving you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what inspires their work. You’ll leave with your very own colourful artwork ready to brighten up your home.

Both workshops run from 6pm to 8.30pm at Museum of Brisbane, making them the perfect excuse to do something a little different after work.

Tickets are $100 for general admission or $95 for MoB Members, plus booking fees, and include the artist-led workshop, all materials, drinks, light refreshments and nibbles - plus your handmade creation to take home.
