Science Night - Amphibians with Dr Ian Brennan

Combine Friday night drinks with a fascinating journey into the world of frogs, toads and other remarkable amphibians at Queensland Museum's latest Science Night!

Taking over SparkLab after dark on Friday 21 August, this adults-only evening invites curious minds to explore the science behind some of the planet's most extraordinary creatures. From 6pm to 9pm, evolutionary biologist Dr Ian Brennan will take guests on a captivating journey through millions of years of evolution, revealing how amphibians have adapted and survived in environments across the globe.

Learn what makes these dual-life animals so unique, from their incredible metamorphosis and moisture-loving skin to their fascinating breeding habits and distinctive frog calls. You'll also discover how more than 9,000 species of frogs, toads and other amphibians have evolved alongside changing landscapes and climates, and why understanding their past is key to protecting their future.

Along the way, you'll meet familiar backyard favourites as well as some of the world's most unusual amphibian species, uncovering the important role they play in healthy ecosystems.

Need to know: The event will be Auslan interpreted. Please note that all other areas of Queensland Museum Kurilpa will close at the usual time of 5pm. The experience includes low-light areas, interactive exhibits, seating, light projections and may be noisy in some spaces.
