Chai House

Silkstone

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

More than just an eatery, Chai House in Silkstone is a bright and airy cafe that offers not only all-day breakfast, but also all-day general dining, along with an unexpected selection of curated gifts and homewares.

Open 7 days a week from breakfast through to late afternoon, and teaming with friendly, helpful staff, the cafe’s comprehensive menu is a wonderful twist for those that don’t wish to be limited to choosing a dish purely because of the time of day it's 'usually’ served.

Here, if the whim takes you, you can enjoy anything off the menu at any time, from your favourite breaky dishes (the Breakfast Bruschetta came with poached eggs that were 100% Insta-worthy when it comes to runny yoke!) through to pastas, mouth-watering curries (such as richly moist mountain goat curry), a range of salads, momos (Asian steamed dumplings) through to dishes such as Nepalese wok noodles and Fried Rice… all day! Your tastebuds can literally travel the world without leaving the country!

If you’re looking for lighter options, or would prefer to try a few tapas-style menu items to experience more of the wide choice of flavours, the Something Light to Share section of the menu is where you need to head. One of the popular dishes with locals is the Corn & Zucchini Fritters with Pumpkin Puree.

There are plenty of vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options to choose from. And yes, remember, here, salad for breakfast is a thing.

If a hot drink or a cold drink, and a little something on the side is all you have time for after running errands around the shopping centre, the well-stocked cabinet at the counter will tempt you with sweet treats and savoury tidbits to kerb the hunger pangs. The cafe is also fully-licenced after 10am.

When it comes to hot beverages, Chai House is totally across all the usual suspects, so whether you’re after a Dirty Chai, a pot of tea (herbal included), or great barista-made coffee, they can quench your thirst.

A thoughtful point of difference, Chai House stocks an ever-changing range of hand-picked delights, gourmet goodies and homewares – including a splattering of seasonal plants – all sourced from local artisans, crafters and growers. The nougat is a must-try!

Campos coffee is on pour, and you can also take home your favourite beans to brew, so check out the shelf of well-priced take-away coffee blends, including decaffeinated coffee, if that’s your brew of choice.

Nice to know - Your four-legged besties are welcome to join you in the outside alfresco space, but must remain on-leash. There is plenty of free car parking available in the shopping centre carpark.
