Springtime Around Brisbane

Updated: Sep 13, 2025

While for Brisbane dwellers the only way to experience the four seasons is to attend a Vivaldi Concert or take a day trip to Melbourne, there are ways and means to get a dose of them if you know where to look.

So here are some of the best places to enjoy the first blooms of spring...

The best way to get a quick dose of spring without travelling too far, of course, is in the magnificent Spectacle Garden (aka Colin Campbell Place) at the Roma St Parkland. Especially early in the morning when the birds are all a-twitter and the rainbow-hued patterns of flowers are at their freshest and most fragrant.

Also in the CBD, at the other end the City Botanic Gardens has some beautiful insta - worthy flower beds just inside the Alice St entrance and near the historic bandstand.

Take time out to smell the roses, which are in full bloom in New Farm Park in springtime. The city's oldest and biggest rose garden, features 2500 varieties of roses of all colours, laid out in ornamental beds that were planted in 1916.

And if you want a whole weekend or even a week of springtime joy, there’s no better way than with a visit to the spectacular Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. This beautiful historical town atop the Darling Downs ranges is the number one springtime destination in Queensland and its iconic Carnival is one that everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime.

Then if spring fever catches on, with a hankering for more springtime festivities in country towns, there’s also this weekend's Laidley Spring Festival held – where else - but in the quaint country town of Laidley, bursting with colour and old-fashioned country charm.

With Spring upon us, the Terrace at Emporium Hotel South Bank has been transformed into a floral sanctuary, Sky High Champagne Hour, in partnership with renowned French Champagne house Perrier-Jouë

Customs House has transformed its riverside terrace into a breathtaking floral wonderland with an onsite champage bar, pink-hued cocktails and delicious food (including high tea) to be enjoyed under the floral domes.

An oasis amidst the industrial centre of Rocklea, Brisbane Flower Market is the go-to location for Brisbane’s florists and flower lovers. And what better time to pay a visit and fill your house with blooms than springtime.

So, spring into action and make the most of the most beautiful season of all while it lasts!
