Breakfast Creek Hotel Major Transformation

Updated: Apr 11, 2026

Refreshed look, same spirit: Queensland’s landmark Breakfast Creek Hotel is entering a bold new chapter, following a $2.75million transformation to the storied pub including the historic Spanish Garden Steakhouse.

This significant upgrade is the only the first stage of the investment, marking the beginning of a multi-phase revitalisation project set to breathe new life into the legacy-laden venue whilst preserving the original character of the site.

Phase 1 consisted of a complete renewal of the Spanish Garden Steakhouse as well as the introduction of a brand-new Pizza Kitchen in a seamless integration with the venue’s heritage architecture.

Guests will enjoy thoughtfully designed interiors and vibrant updates to the food and beverage offering, including pizza on the menu for the very first time at the Creek.

The transformation is brought to life by Cayas & Ward Architects and Herron Coorey Builders, who have blended heritage charm with modern design with the use of exposed brick and warm timber finishes.

The renowned Spanish Garden Steakhouse's interior design refresh includes a nod to its past, with a new semi-enclosure, expanded capacity, and upgraded air-conditioning in time to welcome guests for a Queensland summer.

A standout feature is the dry age cabinet at the entrance, showcasing a greater selection of dry aged meats and new premium cuts from local producers like Darling Downs, Nolans, Five Founders, and Black Onyx.

The updated menu features much-loved classics like the Idaho potato and coleslaw, a 60-year venue staple and guest favourite. The Creek has also added an extensive cocktail selection and expanded wine list, whilst retaining the 135-year-old tradition of serving XXXX off the wood.

The pizza kitchen = Pizza on the Creek - takes pride of place in the beer garden with a fresh open-air design that embraces the relaxed Queensland lifestyle. Designed for the sunshine state, the pizza kitchen invites guests to settle in with an ice-cold beverage in hand, and savour smoky, mouth-watering woodfired pizza.

These updates are only the first phase of the landmark pub’s transformation, with other exciting upgrades including new private event spaces and outdoor dining areas to be revealed during 2026.
