High Road
South Bank
Updated: Oct 27, 2026
A new grill and bar has landed at South Bank, serving up Queensland produce, fire-driven cooking and moody interiors in the first Queensland venture from Melbourne hospitality group The Mulberry Group.
Located at Novotel Brisbane South Bank, High Road Bar and Grill is putting local produce in the spotlight with a menu built around the grill.
Head Chef Gareth Woolcock, who spent more than a decade living and working in Brisbane, has drawn inspiration from the best of Queensland's ingredients, with Mooloolaba prawns, Kingaroy pork and Darling Downs beef among the menu highlights.
Start your meal off strong with a few plates to share, including Byron Bay burrata with romesco and salsa verde, tuna tartare with cucumber and seaweed mayo, and potato scallops topped with crème fraîche, black caviar and finger lime.
The larger plates feature the likes of Mooloolaba prawn rolls, Chinchilla tiger prawns with miso butter, Kingaroy pork cutlets and a lineup of steaks, alongside Humpty Doo barramundi, wood-fired chicken and slow-cooked lamb shoulder. Round things out with sides like charred carrots with nduja and brown butter, crushed new potatoes with confit garlic, or a fresh heirloom tomato salad.
Behind the menu is The Mulberry Group, the Melbourne hospitality team known for venues including Hazel, Dessous, Liminal and Lilac Wine. High Road marks the group's first Queensland venture, with a concept designed specifically for its Cordelia Street home.
The interiors are just as inviting, with dark timber, burgundy and cream tones, natural light by day and a warm amber glow after dark. An open kitchen puts the grill front and centre, while the venue's restaurant, bar and lounge areas offer plenty of options, whether you're settling in for a long lunch, meeting friends for drinks or planning a dinner date. There's also a private dining room for intimate gatherings.
With a focus on Queensland ingredients, fire-driven cooking and warm hospitality, High Road is a fresh addition to South Bank's dining scene, welcoming locals, hotel guests and visitors alike.
