Underwood

Updated: Jun 14, 2026

Malay House in Underwood is a contemporary eatery offering authentic traditional Malaysian cuisine at a budget price.

Found at Underwood Central's popular Asian laneway dining precinct, customers can dine inside the modern dining room featuring marble-topped tables and a vibrant mural, or al fresco with tables provided beside the bustling fruit and vege market.

The menu includes some of Malaysia's most famous fare (influenced by Chinese and Indian cuisine) ranging from noodle and rice dishes to spicy soups.

Popular options are char keow teow (noodles stir-fried with prawn, fish cake, eggs and bean sprouts), maggie goreng (noodles served with deep-fried chicken drumstick, fried tofu and choy sum), nasi goreng (Malay House fried rice with diced chicken) and Malaysia's unofficial national dish - nasi lemak (fragrant coconut rice served with deep-fried chicken, chicken curry or prawn sambal.

In addition, there's a fantastic weekday lunch menu which offers great value for money, including a small bowl of soup and a drink. Favourites are curry laksa, nasi lemak, and roti canai - fresh roti bread served with curry chicken or beef and accompaniments.

Drinks range from homemade herbal tea, milk tea, kopi coffee, Nescafe coffee, Neslo (Nescafe and Milo), coconut, lime longan, or lychee watermelon.
