Perched on Edward Street in Brisbane CBD, Sōfu Gelato is giving gelato an unexpected Asian twist. 

The Brisbane-first shop serves silky tofu-based gelato, freshly churned onsite in a minimalist space designed as a calm paradise in the middle of the city.

Inspired by the tofu desserts and tea-shop flavours popular across Asia, Sōfu transforms silken tofu into a light, creamy gelato base. The result is delicate, smooth and subtly nostalgic, with vegan options throughout the range.

There are seven core flavours to try, including Original Tofu, Black Sesame, Pandan Coconut, Matcha, Oolong Milk Tea, Sweet Corn and Purple Sweet Potato. You can also pair your scoop with a house-made waffle cone in Black Sesame or Thyme.

The drinks menu keeps the Asian-inspired theme going with matcha and Earl Grey matcha lattes, plus Sōfu’s playful Cloud Forecast range. A musty try is the matcha affogato, where hot matcha is poured straight into a scoop of tofu gelato.

Unexpected but seriously easy to love, Sōfu Gelato is one of Brisbane’s more intriguing new dessert stops. If you’re after something beyond the usual scoop, this CBD spot is well worth adding to your list.
