Death & Co

Toowong

Updated: Dec 05, 2025

Globally celebrated cocktail institution Death & Co has made its home in the historic basement cellar bar underneath the Regatta Hotel in Toowong.

Death & Co brings its signature craftsmanship and creative approach to Brisbane from the iconic streets of New York’s East Village.

Within a moody, intimate setting, Death & Co features a series of secluded nooks, plush banquettes, dimly lit corridors, vaulted brick archways, candlelit corners, alcoves furnished with cosy leather booths and bar seating designed for conversation with the expert bartenders.

The venue also features The Studio by Death & Co, a bustling cocktail lounge and performance space with a tightly curated, classic offering in an elegantly timeless space. Come for the music, stay for the Martinis. After the New Year, the space will come alive with regular Jazz performances and rotating lineups.

Australian cocktail lovers can look forward to iconic Death & Co classics, such as the Naked & Famous (Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Chartreuse, Aperol, Lime) and the Oaxacan Old Fashioned (El Jimador Reposado, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Agave Syrup, Angostura Bitters), alongside locally inspired additions to the menu.

Signature Brisbane cocktails include the Telegraph (Four Pillars Dry Gin with pear, eucalyptus, pine and juniper); Sound & Fury (El Jimador Blanco, Ancho Reyes, raspberry & red bell pepper); and Buko Gimlet (Four Pillars Navy Gin, Cachaca, coconut, lime, coconut & pandan).

The food menu at Death & Co Brisbane can be paired perfectly with the cocktails, with highlights including truffle popcorn; kingfish crudo; blistered shisito peppers; lamb burger; buttermilk fried chicken skewers; and Uncle Wes' Drunken Cookies ( staple on US menus, these gooey cookies made with a mix of milk and dark chocolate, subtly laced with banana liqueur for a boozy edge and finished with a touch of sea salt to balance the sweetness).

To ensure the full Death & Co experience is faithfully translated to Australian shores, newly appointed venue and bar managers recently underwent extensive training in the United States, immersing themselves in the brand’s culture and service philosophy across the existing venues.

Good to know - Founded in New York City in 2006, Death & Co was instrumental in shaping the modern craft cocktail movement. Its influence has been profound—reviving interest in the artistry of classic cocktails while pushing the boundaries of innovation for a new generation of drinkers. Today, Death & Co operates four acclaimed U.S. outposts in New York, Los Angeles, Denver, and Washington D.C., and its arrival in Australia marks the next chapter in the brand’s storied evolution.
