Margaret Olley: Far From A Still Life

Tour And Dinner

Join Margaret Olley’s biographer, Meg Stewart, for Margaret Olley: far from a still life tour and dinner on Saturday, 29 October, 2016, at the Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre.

The late, great artist has a wonderful memorial to her individual way of life with the permanent exhibition of actual rooms from her Sydney home. That alone is worth the trip to Murwillumbah, so it promises to be a very special evening with filmmaker and journalist, Stewart, who wrote the award-winning Margaret Olley: far from a still life. She will lead a tour of the Margaret Olley Art Centre (MOAC) and its exhibition, Margaret Olley: from the collection.

There are sure to be some wonderful insights into the woman and the artist from someone who visited her in those very rooms. Says MOAC Curator and Collections Manager, Ingrid Hedgcock, “Meg will share fascinating stories about the time she spent in Olley’s Duxford Street home studio in Sydney, interviewing Olley for the biography.” What a great opportunity to hear intimate stories from someone who got to know Olley and to hear about the equally fascinating people who used to visit her in her home.

The tour and dinner will be held in the Gallery foyer, with catering by the Gallery Café. You’ll be treated to drinks and canapes on arrival and after the tour will sit down for dinner showcasing the Tweed Valley’s farm fresh produce. Sounds like a perfect night in all!

Need to Know - Bookings are essential before 14 October, 2016. Tickets $115 are inclusive of local wines and boutique beers. Gallery & Art Centre opening hours are Wed-Sun 10-5.
