Great Get Togethers

Brisbane

Great Get Togethers is a culmination of the G20 Cultural Celebrations, bringing Brisbane together over picnics, BBQs, activities, games and free live gigs in the parks around town over the G20 long weekend.

While world leaders gather at the round table, the community are invited to get together over long communal tables to celebrate food, fun, creativity and community at these free all ages events.

The program of events spanning the long weekend is as follows:

Nov 14  

Great Get Together, Chermside

Kick back with an afternoon of free entertainment and a game of community cricket, with music from DJ Bacon, giant games, circus and craft workshops, an obstacle course, breakdance competition and workshops, a pop-up café and licensed bar (no BYO alcohol). 2-6pm Free entry...read more here

Bands in Parks, The Gap

Enjoy gourmet eats and live music from the Bands in Parks program at this scenic westside nature reserve. Bands Brass Roots, The Establishment and Still Standing will keep the crowds entertained, along with an interactive African drumming workshop and suitcase rummage market. 2-6pm Free entry....read more here

Great Get Together, Sandgate

The picturesque shores of Einpunpin Lagoon will come alive with music from The View From Madeleine’s Couch, The Melotonins, Griffith, Ange Takats and DJ Bacon at this twilight soiree, which will also feature stilt walkers, a flea circus, indie market stalls, installations from local artists, gourmet treats and a licensed bar (no BYO). 4-8pm Free entry....read more here

Great Get Togther, Seventeen Mile Rocks

Gather for Sunday brunch by the river at this family-friendly get-together, with a host of free entertainment and activities. Highlights include inflatable soccer matches with Brisbane Roar, circus and kite-making workshops, kids entertainment by Lissa & Nee Nee and Tim Jackman, music from Miss Elm, an Inala Wangarra dance performance and a community garden presentation. Great Get Together Wynnum

Settle in for a cool retro-themed afternoon and evening along the sea front at Wynnum, with live music by the Sugar Shakers. Laique, Brisbane Brass and Band of frequencies, a vintage artisan market, giant games, open artist studio and sculpture installation, gourmet treats and roving performers (Ski Boom, Flea Circus and bathing beauties).
