On the outskirts of the speck of a village that is Mt Nebo lies this homey cafe that makes a great drop-in for those who haven’t armed themselves with picnic gear. Sit either at the weather beaten picnic table at the front, indoors or at the rear deck which is regularly invaded by kookaburras looking for scraps.

Clearly the kookaburras know their stuff as this is no ordinary country town café despite its casual ambience. Meals are hearty and delicious in a home-cooked way – breakfast comes with lashings of crispy fried bacon and sour dough toast, there are freshly baked scones, generous burgers, and melts on thick cut toast. And there’s plenty for vegetarians in the way of burgers, toasties and nachos.
