Absinthe By Spiegelworld

Brisbane

Brace yourself for an intoxicating blend of cabaret, politically incorrect humour and remarkable circus acts like nothing you’ve ever seen or imagined at Absinthe by Spiegelworld.

Absinthe by Speigelworld Brisbane 2015

This adult-themed show by the creators of Empire has become a global box-office smash hit after performing to sell-out audiences in Las Vegas for the past 4 years.

And anyone who sees this show will understand why. Having seen Absinthe in Melbourne recently, it’s raunchy, sassy, irreverent, funny and spectacular and left us spellbound.

Absinthe's Gazillionaire on stage holding a micrphone

Hosted by the hysterical Gazillionaire and his loyal assistant Penny Pibbets, Absinthe has it all: breathtaking high wire acts, internationally acclaimed gymnasts and aerial acrobats not to mention a superb performance by Ivan and Ivana Chekhov-Jones of Cirque du Soleil’s production of “La Petite Merde” at the Rooty Hill RSL.

Most of the action takes place on a centre stage under the Spiegeltent’s magnificent red velvet adorned roof, with the audience seated in circle around the stage only metres from the performers.

What also puts Absinthe in a superleague of its own is the venue, a 120 year-old Spiegeltent which is assembled by 3 master craftsmen flown in from Belgium for the occasion. Not one nail or screw is used to put it together, with each piece seemingly slotting into each other as they have for generations.

It’s also one of the largest Spiegeltents on Earth, which has had its well-worn boards graced by dozens of famed performers, including the 1930’s undisputed Queen of cabaret and Hollywood legend Marlene Dietrich.

Absinthe, like the mind-blowing drink (favoured by 19th century Parisian artists) that it takes its name from, is like nothing you’ll ever experience. It’s a real and at times confronting feast for the senses. And it’s a show that will stay with you long after the curtains falls.

Need to know: Absinthe is an adults only show with frequent coarse language and sexual references. But hey, that's cabaret!
