QUIRKY COTTAGES IS NO LONGER PROVIDIND ACCOMMODATION AS OF END 2017.

For a truly unique and unforgettable 'overseas' family holiday, head to Quirky Cottages on Coochiemudlo Island.

Coochiemudlow beach

Located ten minutes from Victoria Point by barge, Quirky Cottages are unashamedly, well, quirky; from vintage train carriages to individually themed cottages. A short stroll from the dog beach, all accomodation is family friendly including furry-legged members.

The I Dream of Jeannie train carriage is resplendent in pink and purple with flowing fabric ceilings and mosaic mirrors. Perfect for little princesses, there are toys, teddies, dress-ups and disco ball. The carriage is self-contained with open plan kitchen/lounge, large mosaic shower, toilet, laundry, four single beds and private master bedroom with double bed.

A caboose style deck with bbq sits at the front while additional seating is provided on a paved patio. With a large, fully fenced yard, there's plenty of room for the kids to kick a ball around or play backyard tennis; while mum or dad swing in the hammock.

Owner Hayley Lake lives next door in her own train carriage and allows young guests to help feed her menagerie including a sheep, goat, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, donkey and dog.

While little girls will be tickled pink with Jeannie, little boys will love sleeping in boat beds at Beach Shellay. Other themed cottages include Cow House, Happy Shack, The Lochiel and Lamina Amour. The cottages are clustered together - making them ideal for family reunions or friendly get-togethers - and share a communal play area complete with kombi cubbyhouse.

While there's not much to do on the island, that's part of  Coochie's charm - enjoy long walks along the beach, bike rides around the island or hire paddle boats, kayaks and canoes off the beach.

*Need to know: there are no shops on Coochie other than a kiosk providing basic supplies and fast food like burgers and fish and chips. Guests need to bring groceries, alcohol and anything else they require with them.
