Making Music
Workshops Rail Museum
The Workshops Rail Museum will come alive with Making Music on Sunday when children are transported on a musical journey through workshops, performances and arts and crafts.
Taking inspiration from the history of the workshops, the day will feature King of the Kids Tim Jackman, a half hour of Rhapsodaisy Rail Music Workshops with Lil’ Fi as well as hands-on fun activity at the Shake Rattle’n’Roll music craft workshop.
Here, paper plates, coloured streamers and glue will be provided as part of the arts and crafts so that youngsters can make their own musical shakers to take home.
With the railways having been the inspiration for so many songs of popular culture and music having played a role in the Workshops culture (with entertainers such as country king Slim Dusty giving performances at lunchtime on pay day), it was only fitting that a music-influenced creativity was imparted to young visitors.
Indeed, in their hey day the Workshops even had a Railway Band that performed interstate at competitions.
Need to know - All of these activities and performances will be happening in addition to the usual fun interactive pursuits and, for a small extra cost, the mini train ride around the grounds.
