Tart Cafe

Camp Hill

Tart Café, found inside the Camp Hill Antique Centre, is a gorgeous café with a touch of Hollywood glamour, open daily for breakfast, lunch and sweet treats.

Located on Old Cleveland Road in the former 50's cinema, Planet Theatre, this charming café sits at the entrance of the antique emporium with dining available inside and on the footpath.

Indoor diners can sit at small round tables or in big comfy booths. Paying respect to the building's history, the front counter resembles a candy bar while a large monochrome mural of 60's screen sirens, Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield, overlooks the café.

Breakfast, available until 11:30, includes smashed avocado with beetroot relish, vine tomatoes,  Persian feta and sumac, Spanish omelette with chorizo, cherry tomatoes, onion, spinach and sourdough toast, and house doughnuts with fresh cream, rose water and  ice cream; while Tart's classic breakfast of eggs and bacon and eggs Benedict are available all day.

Lunch, served between 11:30 and 3:30, ranges from juicy burgers (beef, lamb or haloumi) and delicious salads (cumin-roasted pumpkin and paleo broccolini and beetroot) to hearty fare like beer-battered fish with crispy chat potatoes and crushed peas, and pork belly topped with cinnamon-infused caramel, lychee, pomegranate, mint salad and carrot purée.

Old-fashioned sweets include scones with jam and cream, carrot cake and lemon meringue. Or try Tart's signature treats The Jayne Mansfield (port-soaked prune, macadamia and sour cream cake) or The Sophia Loren - chocolate tart with caramello centre and espresso crumble.

Drink wise, there's well-brewed Campos coffee, tea, fresh juices, spiders, milkshakes and smoothies like Elvis (Milo and Tim Tams) and Priscilla (banana and cinnamon). Tart is licensed with a carefully curated wine list - white, red, rose and sparkling - and a small selection of beer such as Stone & Wood, 4 Pines and Asahi.

Nice to know - Tart is child-friendly (kids can order scrambled eggs, chicken nuggets or battered fish with chips) and dog-friendly with four-legged family members allowed to join you on the footpath.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
