10 Cool Things To Do On A Hot Day

In and around Brisbane

With this week’s scorching conditions set to continue over the weekend, here’s 10 cool places and ways to beat the heat in and around Brisbane:

Rock Pools

Cool off for free at one of nature’s own baths in a gorgeous setting – an hour’s drive north at Mt Mee’s Rocky Hole, go south for a dip at the Currumbin Rock Pools or further north to Kondalilla Falls.

Bush Walk

The temperature’s always a few degrees cooler in the hills around Brisbane – try a rainforest walk at Mt Nebo or Mt Glorious or take a drive up to Mt Tamborine and Curtis Falls or through Springbrook and on to Natural Bridge.

Aquativity Parks

No need to pay entry at a pool when kids can have fun getting wet for free in some of Brisbane’s aquativity and water parks...more

Visit a Museum

Both Queensland Museum and Museum of Brisbane are free to enter and can provide hours of entertainment for all ages, with MoB currently hosting the interactive Play Moves and Qld Museum Disney: The Magic of Animation (ticketed)

QAGOMA

Brisbane’s coolest art galleries GOMA and QAG have stunning exhibitions including the summer blockbuster Air and Still Life Now

Swimming Pools

When the going gets too hot, head to one of Brisbane’s best swimming pools, from historic baths to lagoons, or take a pick from our selection of the best pools for children...more

Cinemas

There’s no better time to escape to the movies at a boutique cinema - New Farm Cinemas, Dendy, Palace Barracks, Blue Room Cinebar, Hawthorne Deluxe, Balmoral Cinemas or Red Hill Cinemas

Escape Rooms

Escape the heat and try to escape the room at one of these great puzzle rooms, with gothic mysteries, Australian mysteries and crimes to solve

Laserzone
