Paddington

STOP 13@31 HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Stop 13@31 is a cool chic little café in an old corner shop located at an historic Paddington tram stop on Kennedy Tce.

Today the heritage-listed shelter is a bus stop but Stop 13@31 pays homage to the trams that used to trundle along this route with a collection of black and white pictures on the wall.

The motto at Stop 13@31 is ‘eat, drink, and relax’ which translates into the laidback neighbourhood vibe of the café. Diners can sit outside on the wide footpath area shaded by the corrugated iron roof or inside the cool bright aircon space in comfy leather chairs.

Food here is simple and delicious, with much of it prepared from scratch*, including the potato rosti and house lemon butter. Dietary requirements are well catered for here too, with gluten free choices and a special Vegan breakfast of Scrambled Tofu, especially created by the chef/owner.

On the menu is all-day breakfast and a selection of sweets and baked goodies at the counter*. Choose from lighter options such as Toast and spreads, Avo and Ricotta on toast, Muesli and Yoghurt and Croissant or Bagel-wiches up to Belgian Waffles, Turkish Finger French Toast or Thyme and Fetta Mushrooms on rocket. Otherwise there’s delicious dishes like the Benedict Breakfast or the recommended Potato Rosti Breakfast – freshly made potato rosti poached eggs, salmon, spinach leaves and house-made sauce.

Coffee served is made on Manfredi Audacia beans and tea drinkers will find a generous selection of teas from the usual English Breakfast through herbal and Chai Gun Powder Green. Cold drinks meanwhile include Bundy Fresh Juices, Sarsparilla and Creaming Soda.

As a bonus for dog owners, Stop13@31 is dog-friendly, with water bowl and plenty of space outside to secure the pooch. Look out for the individual hitching stations that are on the cards.

*At the time of writing in Feb 2015 Stop 13@31 was in the process of adding more of its own house-baked sweets, cakes and slices to the counter collection.
