Plenty

West End

PLENTY HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF JULY 2022.

Plenty West End is an original rustic café and grassroots food market that is all about reconnecting people with the source of the food they eat, namely the farmer.

Housed in an old West End factory down on Montague Rd, currently Plenty revolves around a central open plan ‘kitchen’, from which the café food’s small but delicious menu is prepared. A small stash of fresh produce, artisan loaves from Leavain and local chef made sauces and condiment and organic pressed olive oil to buy are presented on stacks of pallets alongside a wall and rear fridges stock Maleny dairy products and Coopers Plains made Lick ice-cream.

Pull up a retro metal seat by a barrel and enjoy an organic coffee or tea while the chef whips up something delectable from the blackboard menu like baked eggs with spiced tomatoes, haloumi, mint and eggplant sauce or fruit toast and pepe saya butter for breakfast or a Reuben sandwich for lunch.

Or choose from within the counter where there are burstingly fresh bowls of salad like Fattoush or smoked chicken with apple and pear and a small range of daily baked sweet stuff like peach and pistachio tart which come from local cake queen Jade Halloran (of Cake Kiosk fame).

At this stage Plenty is a work in progress, right down to the charmingly skeletal walls, some of which are just timber frames but it is a fascinating progress that is a real case of ‘watch this space’.

For on the cards are a giant commercial kitchen out back which will feature sliding glass walls and a demonstration table, an apiary on the roof, a butcher’s bench, smoking and drying room and even an underfloor cheese cave.

Nice to know: the posters you see around the walls are a kind of food grower's gallery that includes local quail farmer Clive and owner Karyn’s daughter and cattle breeder Jess.
