A Jane Austen Ball

Sandgate Town Hall

Updated: Mar 08, 2025

THIS EVENT IS NOW IN THE PAST. FOR MORE GREAT THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN AND AROUND BRISBANE, PLEASE HEAD TO OUR WHAT'S ON PAGE.

Spend a night in the Regency world of Jane Austen as historic Sandgate Town Hall is transformed into an elegant ballroom for A Jane Austen Ball.

Here you can experience life in Regency England, dancing to live music, enjoying a Regency supper and having a civilized tête-à-tête with charming people.

The ball is a strictly costumed event with ladies and gentlemen asked to dress in the style of the Regency or 18th Century period. (the look is the Empire line, with a high waist just below the bust for ladies and breeches for men).

Regency dancing is elegant and refined and guests do not need to come with a dance partner. It is recommended however that guests attend a dance workshop with early Colonial Dance to get full enjoyment from the evening.

The evening's dances will be called by Heather Clarke, with live music by the talented Phillip’s Dog.

Need to know - Tickets for the ball include entry, dancing, entertainment and a Regency supper. Places are strictly limited so book now.
