Coleyville Lodge

Camping

COLEYVILLE LODGE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

In a picturesque rural setting less than an hour from Brisbane is this exclusive gem of a camp site where dogs are free to roam, camp fires rule and prices are rock bottom.

Hospitable hosts Michael and his wife Lorraine have opened up their cattle property in the Scenic Rim to visitors looking for a real getaway without the price tag or travel time. Here visitors can pitch a tent, squat a rustic lodge or take over a five bedroom homestead complete with wood-fired pizza oven.

The handful of camp sites are mainly spread out along the far reaches of the property's water holes, which are great for swimming and each site has its own fire pit with firewood generously supplied nightly by Michael.

Amenity-wise campers down by the creek have access to a compost dunny, purpose built by Michael, and a short drive of about 2 mins up to the homestead area are hot water showers and a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, fridge and stove for use by guests.

Best of all though, campers are free to bring their well-behaved dogs (or even horses) and leave them unleashed by day.

And aside from swimming in the waterhole (Michael can supply a paddle board and boogie boards), Coleyville is the gateway to the charming townships of the Scenic Rim, with their country style pubs like the iconic bushwalker's hangout Dugandan, antique shops and tea houses. There are also dozens of bushwalks, scenic drives, stunning lookouts and the rock-climbing mecca of Mt French.
