The World Press Photo Exhibition 2026 returns to the Brisbane Powerhouse with a powerful and thought-provoking selection of the world’s best photojournalism from May 30 to June 21.

Featuring winning images from the annual World Press Photo Contest, this year’s exhibition showcases extraordinary visual storytelling selected from more than 57,000 entries submitted by photographers across 141 countries.

Aaron Favila

From global conflicts and the escalating climate crisis to deeply personal moments of resilience, recovery and hope, the exhibition offers a confronting yet essential glimpse into the realities shaping our world.

Presented across the Turbine Platform and Fairfax Studio, the free exhibition invites visitors to slow down, look closer and connect with stories beyond the headlines.

Rob G. Green

Long-time partner Brisbane Airport will also showcase a curated selection of images at the Domestic Terminal from May 25 to June 25, giving travellers the chance to engage with the exhibition beyond the gallery walls.

Ihsaan Haffejee

Whether you’re passionate about photography, current affairs or simply looking for an experience that sparks conversation and reflection, the World Press Photo Exhibition is one of Brisbane’s most compelling cultural events this season.

Admission is free, though visitors should note the exhibition contains some confronting content and discretion is advised for younger audiences.
