Soweto Gospel Choir
Concert Hall, QPAC
Don't miss the multi-Grammy Award winning Soweto Gospel Choir when they bring their powerful blend of African gospel, freedom songs, and international classics to QPAC on Saturday, August 3.
Hailing from Soweto, a town outside of Johannesburg and home of Nelson Mandela, Soweto Gospel Choir won the Grammy Award for Best World Music Album in 2019. In this special one-night only concert at QPAC, the choir will perform songs from their winning album Freedom for the first time in Australia.
Freedom is a celebration and commemoration of South Africa’s democratic movement's struggle for freedom. In this uplifting and rousing repertoire, the choir will perform a program of freedom songs celebrating the life of Nelson Mandela, as well as international gospel classics such as Amazing Grace and a spine-tingling take on Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.
The stellar line-up includes South Africa’s best vocalists; seasoned performers who have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the music industry including U2, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Robert Plant, Celine Dion, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Josh Groban.
The choir continues to inspire audiences around the world with their music. Don't miss this rare chance to see and hear them live when they come to Brisbane.
