Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs


Brisbane City Council's fantastic Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs program has returned for its fifth year, so get the picnic blanket and gather friends and family for a fabulous free night out under the stars.

The popular community initiative brings the big screen to various parks around the city from October to May, and continues to reach new locations, with Dorrington Park, Ashgrove and Ropley Road Park, Wynnum West being included this year.

Take your pick from more than 20 screenings across Brisbane, including family favourites like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Wizard of Oz and The Super Mario Bros Movie or fantasy comedy, Barbie.

As well as the free films, there are plenty of pre-movie activities such as markets, food trucks and other entertainment, making it a great night out for everyone, with most venues welcoming furry friends!

Good to know - Increasing in popularity, these much-loved community events have seen a 30% increase in attendance over the past two years with more than 7,800 people attending in 2023 compared to about 5,500 in 2022.

Need to know - Films start shortly after sundown, so get in early to secure your spot. Take along chairs or a blanket to enjoy the film. BYO snacks or purchase from the onsite vendors.
