'mudunama kundana wandaraba jarribirri: Judy Watson'
QAG
'mudunama kundana wandaraba jarribirri: Judy Watson' is a celebration of the powerful, ethereal, and deeply beautiful artworks by one of Australia's most revered contemporary artists at Queensland Art Gallery from March 23 to August 11, 2024.
For more than four decades, Judy Watson has created powerful, ethereal works of art channelling the stories of her family’s Waanyi Country in north-west Queensland.
Told through the lens of a First Nations woman with powerful connections to Country, the exhibition features more than 120 significant paintings, videos, sculptures and prints from her decades-long career.
The exhibition title ‘mudunama kundana wandaraba jarribirri’, translated as ‘tomorrow the tree grows stronger’, is taken from a poem in Waanyi language by the artist’s son Otis Carmichael.
Need to know - Join the opening day celebrations, where you can meet the artist, join a tour, or experience a lively whip-cracking performance at QAG. Entry is free.
