Inspired Dance Film Festival, Australia’s premiere international dance on film festival has officially launched and comes to Brisbane’s new Thomas Dixon Centre from October 19-22, 2022.

The festival has announced its program off the back of a brand-new partnership with the Queensland Ballet at its revitalised state-of-the-art West End home.

Featuring both on site in the Thomas Dixon Centre’s stunning Talbot Theatre as well as online, the festival will screen 60 films as part of its official selection, representing 31 countries and encompassing a diverse range of subjects including gender identity, disability, cultural identity.

The festival will include a film from tap royalty Reid Perry, featuring the original Tap Dog, Dein Perry and a short directed by Emmy Award-Winner Derek Hough (of the US Dancing with the Stars fame).

The Gala will open with Queensland Ballet/Australiasian Dance Collective co-production 9 Rooms featuring a score by musician Katie Noonan. 

The esteemed line up of judges and ambassadors include international film and theatre star, Adam Garcia; award-winning choreographer and director, Kelley Abbey; TV star and musical theatre icon, Todd McKenney; world renowned creator of Tap Dogs, Dein Perry; Artistic Director of Strictly Come Dancing – UK, Jason Gilkison; former Senior Artist at Bangarra, Director and Filmmaker, Deborah Brown; choreographer, Stephen Tannos; and Award-Winning Choreographer, Sarah Boulter.

Need to know - Screenings will be held from Oct 19-21, with the Gala screenings and awards night on October 22.
