NGON is a cool budget Vietnamese eatery in an upstairs-downstairs shop on Paddington's Given Tce.
The pared back minimalist interior features Vietnamese street art, a rear window with stunning vistas of Paddington's hills, street dining and a cosy downstairs room with plush couch and more seating.
Serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine for lunch and dinner, NGON is the go-to for dishes you won't find in other Vietnamese restaurants in inner Brisbane, especially at these prices. For dinner, all large plates come in under $20, with many around $14, while generous entrees are $12 and under.
Small Plates (entrees) include pork belly or chicken rice paper rolls, vegetable or duck spring rolls, melt-in-the-mouth salt and pepper squid and tasty Vietnamese marinated pork skewers.
Large Plates include vermicelli combination bowl, Vietnamese beef noodle soup, delicious Vietnamese chicken salad, noodle or Vietnamese chicken stir fry, braised salmon in pepper sauce, Vietnamese duck curry or the must try Vietnamese beef brisket stew (served with jasmine rice and Vietnamese baguette).
For dessert there's Vietnamese iced coffee panna cotta or pandan creme brulee. And drinks-wise, there's a small selection of wine by the glass or bottle, beer (including Beer Hanoi) and 3 cocktails (Red Lotus, Mekong Delta Mojito or Hello Hanoi). Meanwhile non-alcoholic drinks include house made soda (lychee pineapple apple, strawberry lime basil or sugarcane lemon ginger), cold press juices, coconut fuice, Vietnamese Iced Coffee or soft drinks.
