Mt Coot-tha

SUMMIT RESTAURANT & BAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Brisbane’s iconic heritage-listed Summit Restaurant & Bar sits perched atop Mt Coot-tha, with sweeping panoramic vistas from the city and suburbs out to Moreton Bay.

An expansive outdoor deck offers al fresco diners a front row seat, while inside, grand windows look out over Brisbane, offering equally impressive views from both the ground floor and mezzanine.

Just 7km from the CBD is this unique venue to watch the city come alive at sunset and turn into an enchanted blanket of twinkling coloured lights at night.

Originally built in the 1920s as a tea room for day trippers up to the top of Mt Coot-tha, the Summit retains a touch of its ornate art deco charm whilst having been expanded in the 1980’s and ‘90’s to accommodate the restaurant and bar.

Food-wise the lunch and dinner menu is Mod Oz with options like oysters, a grazing plate to share, chargrilled octopus and cauliflower salad for entree and mains such as sous vide beef cheek and Glasshouse Mountains roasted chicken breast, with desserts including Passionfruit Bombe and Scenic Rim organic honey pannacotta. It's worth noting there's an Express Lunch menu available every day with 3 courses for $39.95* and a special Sunset Dinner from 5pm-7pm with 3 courses for $42.50pp*. There's also high tea on offer.

The beverage menu offers a wide variety of spirits, wines, beers and ciders from around the globe. For dark spirit drinkers there's a bourbon and single malt collection while the wine list featrues a geographical range of the sparkling, white and red – opt for a glass of the Vevue Cliquot from Reims to start, before moving onto a Akarua ‘Rua’ Pinot Noir from Otago, New Zealand. To follow there’s a range of nightcaps, including a Torbreck Frontignac dessert wine from the Barossa Valley and a number of cognacs on offer.

Summit Restaurant & Bar Mt Coot-tha

Nice to know - The Summit Restaurant has for decades been a popular venue for wedding ceremonies, receptions or both.  With 3 function spaces, there’s a room to accommodate all sized parties. The Summit Restaurant is also the place for corporate events with many companies opting for this mountaintop venue just a stone’s throw from the CBD over inner city hotels. The Fountain View Room, on the ground floor of The Summit Restaurant offers spacious, private facilities in air-conditioned comfort.

Need to know -  There is plenty of free car parking onsite - aim for the rear carpark behind the restaurant as the carpark near the Kuta Cafe gets packed with daytrippers. There's also a dedicated children's menu.

*Prices correct at time of visiting in March 2018.
