The Handmade Expo Market

Ipswich Turf Club

Since 2008 the Handmade Expo Market, established by a mother and daughter team, has become Brisbane’s biggest handmade market with extra locations added locally (Morayfield and Redlands) and regionally (Rockhampton and Bundaberg).

Held once a month at the Ipswich Turf Club, the Handmade Expo Market’s motto is ‘excellence in making, baking and growing’.

Hosting up to one-hundred stalls (more at Christmas time), most are run by WAHMs (work at home mums) whose clever creations range from cushions and candles to toys and totes with jewellery, fashion and fresh fruit and veggies added to the mix.

A handful of food stalls are thrown in with grown-ups indulging in fresh coffee and homemade cupcakes while children satisfy their sweet tooth with fairly floss and sno cones.  More than a market, this family affair offers face painting and a jumping castle for kids.

Additional entertainment is provided by the Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway which operates an old-fashioned steam train with vintage carriages from Bundamba to Box Flat on market days. The half hour return trip leaves on the hour from 10am to 12pm with family tickets available.
