Kid Curry

Fortitude Valley

Kid Curry is a stunning, contemporary Pan Asian restaurant in Fortitude Valley, the third in the same fairy-lit street from the owners of the sophisticated line-up that includes Snack Man and Happy Boy.

A quiet contender for one of Brisbane's best restaurants, Kid Curry features a chic, minimalist and inviting interior with wood-panelled walls, polished concrete floors, ambient lighting and smooth jazz, while outside the giant fairy lit fig trees form an enchanted backdrop through the windows.

The savvy owners of Snack man and Happy Boy have taken things to the next level at Kid Curry, with an exquisite Pan Asian menu (taking inspiration from Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, India and Sri Lanka) and bespoke wines to match.

Dishes are designed to share and include starters such as Filipino-style ceviche with coconut milk, lime juice, chilli and exotic herbs; dry-fried king salmon with lemongrass, lime leaf and kampot pepper; marinated pork skewers, chargrilled with dipping sauce or flame grilled lamb with pickled onions and mint chutney.

For mains, there are delectable choices such as Butter Chicken (roasted chicken in smoked tomato and butter sauce); Massaman (tender beef cheek in rich spiced gravy and cucumber pickle); Choo Chee Goong (flash-fried prawns i red curry paste) or Rendang (confit duck in dry and savoury sauce with potato).

Desserts are equally scrumptious and not to be missed - try the heavenly Shrikhand Kulfi (cardamon yoghurt gelato, turmeric cream, pistachio and rosewater) or Roti Gulay (roti with banana, Thai tea ice-cream and chocolate ganache).

Not only do the Kid Curry folk know their food, they're also wine aficionados, so there's a cracking curated wine list to match including their own drops produced in conjunction with boutique wineries. The well-versed waiters can assist with choices too.

Good to know - Arrive early and enjoy a drink at Snack Man, the elegant wine bar next door, by the same owners.

Need to know - There is metred street parking available nearby (free after 7pm).
